Shawn Hafstrom

Shawn, born to a family loaded with gifted musicians, near the south side of Chicago where music has always been a mainstay, was taught to sing by his mother at the age of 3. His Mom recognized his talent and enrolled him in piano lessons at the age of 5.  When he was old enough to join his high school band he chose to play the trombone all the while teaching himself to play drums in his free time at home.  Shawn dreamed of being a famous drummer until his 7th grade English teacher showed him some chords on the guitar. From that moment on he had to have one and at the age of 14 his mother came through with the 65 Firebird he uses to this day. Immediately guitar became his instrument of choice and began playing professionally 2 yrs later with his first rock band.

Upon graduating high school, Shawn studied music education at Illinois State University.  He left after 1 yr to join a Cincinnati based touring band by the name of Striker whose members were from Tell City.  He moved to the tri state after 5 yrs of recording and pushing original music.  Since then he has been kicking it with local acts Strutter, Akita Axe, Mister Breeze, Sharla Harding Group, Minx, Uncle Fester, All u Can Eat, Blueshawg and Soul Position.  Shawn has played professionally all over the U. S. and brings a Chicago bred blues flare and countless hours of stage experience to the latest lineup of AIRLINE BLONDE.
